In the other part of the article, we will take a look at the competition, which inevitably leads to the conclusion in the end.
Gran Board 3 is an electronic dartboard, intended for use with soft tip darts. Its main feature is the Bluetooth connectivity, and online play. It doesn’t have a classic LED score display that is usual with electronic dartboards. All the scoring, game selection, and adjustments are made through the corresponding App on your smartphone or tablet. With the App, you can play against people from all around the world. The regulated size enables you to have a real feel of the game, and the LED colorful lights around the board- well, we will let you decide about that. Anyway, they can be turned off.
To Whom It Is Indeed?
Gran Board 3 is intended for darting lovers that are also tech-savvy since all the controls are available through the phone App. If you want to measure your skills against players from all over the world and enjoy being a part of a very active community, this is a dartboard for you. There are leagues, tournaments, and folks playing for free and for money.
On the other hand, if you don’t enjoy the modern touches to this game, or you are not fond of using your smartphone during the game, this might not be a dartboard for you.
What’s Included in the Package?
In the package you will find a Gran Board 3 LED Bluetooth Dartboard, 2 Sets of Darts, Hanging Instructions and screws. The USB cable and charger needed to operate the LED lights are not included.
The Gran Board 3 comes without a cabinet, it is intended to be mounted on a wall. The dimensions are 22, 5″ X 22, 5 X 1 5/8 inches, and the weight is 6.2 pounds. Not much can be said about the design. It is pretty simple since there is no LED display. It is a target with a large catch ring around it. Interesting about the catch ring is that it detects off-target shots.
The board uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to your device. The board itself is battery operated, it uses two AA batteries. The LED lights draw power from the USB cable. They are independent of the battery and from the on-off switch. So, when the cable is plugged in, they light up, when you pull the cable out, they shut down.

You may not love
The USB cable and charger are not provided. You would have to get them on your own. But they are only needed for the LED lights, so if you are not interested in that feature, they are not mandatory.
Gran Board 3 vs. Gran Board 2
We can’t really say that this is a worthy competitor because this is an older version of the board. The boards look identical, the difference is that Gran Board 2 has a Beta online play system, so it was in a testing stage back then and that the corresponding Phone App is much improved since then. Another thing that can be mentioned as a difference are LED lights on Gran Board 3.
Gran Board 3 vs. Gran Board Dash
This is a budget variant of the Gran Board 2. It offers Bluetooth connectivity, online play, but without the LED lights, and most importantly, the build quality suffered a little. Wanting to provide all the interesting features that their more expensive board has, the manufacturers decided to save money on the other side. The Gran Board Dash is louder since it doesn’t have foam sound installation. The segments are not tucked in nicely, like in the Gran Board 2 or 3. They wiggle a little bit, and they can pop out just for a millimeter, but that can sometimes be important because it can cause a bounce out. But the advantage of the Gran Board Dash is a much lower price.
Gran Board 3 vs. Target Nexus Online Electronic Dartboard
This is a serious competitor. It offers pretty much everything as Gran Board 3, but in one package. It has a built-in touch screen, camera, microphone, and loudspeakers. The nexus App, available at the Google Store enables you to play and chat with opponents from around the world, while the camera ensures fair play. It has gel sound insulation, so it is quiet. The build quality is standardly good. The drawbacks compared to Gran Board 3 are the number of games available, only 10 at the moment, and the price. It is much higher.
Gran Board 3 vs. VDarts H3L Global Online Electronic Dart Board
One could assume that this dartboard originated in Las Vegas. It is not so much a dartboard with LED lighting, as it is LED lighting with dartboard built around it.
It has a ton of features, though. The Bluetooth connectivity and playing against opponents from all over the world, a large number of games available, Miss Sensor and Smart LED target. The manufacturer describes this board as the question of the market. With the use of special materials and standards, the noise-reduction level is like ones that professional recording studios use. The build quality is excellent and it can be compared to commercial-grade dartboards. The board itself is quite large, considering it doesn’t have a built-in screen, but that provides extra protection for the wall behind.
Drawbacks can be that excessive use of LED lights might be too distracting for some users and that the price is much higher than Gran Board 3.
